  • Aetna
  • AmeriHealth

  • Great-West
  • Health Net
  • Humana
  • Tufts Health Plan
  • UnitedHealthcare

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Insurance Options

Dealing with health insurance companies – even when you’re not going through them to help pay for your substance abuse treatment – can be tricky. When you first signed up for your insurance plan, you may or may not have been aware of your policy’s coverage when it comes to mental health and substance abuse treatment.

TTC Care’s knowledgeable admissions counselors can help, as we can review your insurance policy and explain your substance abuse and mental health benefits.

In 2008, a federal law passed called The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Act of 2008 (MHPAEA). This provides already-insured participants with benefits under mental health and substance use disorder parity coverage – allowing Americans the opportunity to get help for drug addiction with better coverage.

In short, this law says that insurers must provide the same benefits for substance abuse as they do for other medical conditions. This is great news because it advocates that those who are living with addiction deserve effective treatment as part of their regular healthcare.
